6 Week Trauma Informed Yoga & Group Therapy

Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and at times, lonely. Grounded Mama is a six-week in-person program designed to give you the space to breathe, to reconnect, and to feel supported as you move through the postpartum journey.
What is Grounded Mama?
Grounded Mama combines trauma-informed yoga with therapeutic group conversations, creating a safe and nurturing environment where you can:
Reconnect with your body in gentle, grounding ways.
Explore your emotions and experiences using somatic approaches in a supportive, non-judgmental space.
Build connections with other mums who truly “get it.”
Learn practical tools for calm, balance, and emotional wellbeing.
Why Trauma-Informed Yoga?
Our yoga sessions are guided with sensitivity and care, focusing on helping you feel safe in your body. Whether you are navigating sleep deprivation, stress, or the impact of a traumatic birth experience, you’ll be supported to move at your own pace, honour your energy, and cultivate a sense of strength and grounding.
Why Group Therapy?
The group therapy element offers a space to be heard, to share openly, and to realise you’re not alone. Together, we explore themes of identity, self-compassion, stress, relationships, healing after birth, and the ups and downs of motherhood.
Who is it for?
This program is designed for mums in the postpartum period (up to 2 years after birth) who are looking for:
A safe space to pause and reflect.
Support with the emotional challenges of motherhood.
Gentle, body-based practices that support recovery after traumatic or challenging births.
Connection with a community of like-minded mothers.
Gentle ways to reconnect with body and self and enhance nervous system regulation.
No yoga experience necessary just an open mind
Program Details
When: Mondays 2pm - 3.30pm (for 6 weeks) October 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10, 17
Where: Robina at Floating Lotus Yoga Studio
People: Max 7 people
Time: 90minute sessions
Facilitated by: Mirinda Smith, Psychologist & Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher
Cost: $115 per session (with rebate out of of pocket cost $80.60)
Medicare Rebate: $34.40 - Check with your GP, you you can access up to 10 Group Therapy sessions per calendar year
Babies under 4 months are welcome to attend with their mums. At this age, little ones are usually happiest being close, feeding, or resting, and it can feel easier to have them alongside you. For older babies, we kindly ask that mums come solo. Once babies become more alert and active, it can be harder for you (and the group) to fully drop in and focus on your own healing. Our intention is to give you a safe space to breathe, reconnect, and nurture you.
