Psychologist Near Miami, Gold Coast

Perinatal, anxiety and ADHD support, minutes from Miami

Getting to us from Miami

Our consulting room is at The Lavarack Rooms on Lavarack Road, Nobby Beach, just north of Miami. For most Miami residents that is a few minutes by car, or a short trip on the 700 bus along the Gold Coast Highway.

Satya Psychology supports adults, teens and couples with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and relationship concerns, and a large part of our work is with women during pregnancy and the first years of parenting. Choose between in-person sessions, Walk & Talk from Nobby's or Burleigh Heads, and telehealth.

Miami sits between our two most-used Walk & Talk starting points, so you have more choice than most suburbs:

  • The Lavarack Rooms, Nobby Beach. In-person sessions with psychologist Mirinda Smith on Fridays, 9am to 4pm.

  • Walk & Talk at Nobby's or Burleigh Heads. Mirinda meets clients at both. You agree on the exact meeting point in your first session.

  • Telehealth. Video sessions from home. For new parents especially, this can be the format that makes therapy possible at all.

In the room, on foot or online

Miami sits between Nobby's and Burleigh Heads, two of our Walk & Talk starting points, and our consulting room is just north on Lavarack Road.

For many clients, the clearest insights arrive while they’re moving rather than sitting still. Walking side-by-side outdoors can ease tension, support emotional regulation and help conversation unfold more naturally than a face-to-face setting.

Life doesn’t pause for an appointment. Whether you’re home, at work or between errands, online sessions make it simple to fit therapy around your day.

If you’d rather meet face-to-face, our welcoming Gold Coast space is designed to help you slow down, feel grounded and settle in from the moment you arrive.

Perinatal and postpartum support

Pregnancy and early parenthood bring a specific kind of pressure: broken sleep, a changed body, a changed relationship, and often the sense that you should be coping better than you are. We see people for:

  • anxiety during pregnancy, including after a previous loss or difficult birth

  • low mood, flatness or intrusive thoughts after birth

  • a birth experience that keeps replaying

  • the loss of identity and independence that can come with becoming a mother (sometimes called matrescence)

  • relationship strain after a baby arrives

  • returning to work and the mental load that follows

Mirinda lists postpartum concerns among her core areas and is developing a six-week group program for postpartum mums alongside her Trauma-Informed Yoga work. Maddison Weinert, a provisional psychologist, focuses on women's mental health and the perinatal period and sees Gold Coast clients by telehealth, which works well around feeds and naps.

If you are pregnant or postpartum and feel unsafe, or are having thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, contact PANDA on 1300 726 306, Lifeline on 13 11 14 or 000 straight away. We are not a crisis service.

Other things we help with

  • Anxiety and depression, using CBT, ACT and DBT

  • ADHD and neurodiversity, with no formal diagnosis needed to begin

  • Trauma and nervous system regulation, at a pace you set

  • Couples therapy, with Mirinda (Gottman Level 1 trained), by telehealth or in person

Choosing between Medicare and a lower fee

There are two ways to pay. Which one suits you mostly comes down to having a GP plan or not:

With a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Sessions with Mirinda are $240 to $255 depending on format, and Medicare returns $98.97 to $124.30, leaving $130.70 to $151.03 out of pocket. Your plan must come from a GP at your MyMedicare-registered practice or your usual GP, and it covers up to 10 individual sessions a calendar year.

Without a referral. Sessions with a provisional psychologist are $140, with no GP visit needed and no session cap. There is no Medicare rebate.

Couples sessions are $280 and are not covered by Medicare.

What the first session looks like

You book a time through our online portal and fill in a short intake. In the first session we talk about what is going on, what you would like to be different and which format fits your week. If you have chosen Walk & Talk, the first session happens by telehealth so we can agree on where to meet, what to do in wet weather and how confidentiality works outdoors.

Most people start with weekly or fortnightly sessions. We ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to change a booking.
